Gazprom-Media announces reorganization of its Entertainment TV sub-holding

Gazprom-Media, the leading diversified media holding in Russia and Eastern Europe, has announced it will make changes to the organizational structure and management of the Gazprom-Media Entertainment Television sub-holding. The Board of Directors of Gazprom-Media Holding made this decision.

The functions of the sole executive body will be transferred to the managing company JSC Gazprom-Media Holding, which is headed by the Holding’s CEO Dmitry Chernyshenko.

Changes to the management model will also lead to a number of organizational changes.

The Holding’s CEO Dmitry Chernyshenko will oversee all of the strategic and a number of key operational functions, including presenting the annual budget and investment projects to the Board of Directors, and signing M&A deals. He will also approve the organizational structure and staffing choices, approve candidates for managerial positions at the channels, and coordinate terms of cooperation with key figures in the Holding's production companies.

Artur Dzhanibekyan, who previously served as general manager of Gazprom-Media Entertainment TV sub-holding, will become the first deputy general manager of the sub-holding. Hisresponsibilities will include implementing the product strategy, searching for new products for the sub-holding, including in the digital environment, creating content across all media environments, and interacting with the sub-holding’s producers.

Over the past three years, the Holding has significantly expanded its presence in the entertainment television segment. New TV channels, TNT4 and Super, came on the air, four studios of own production were established, and the TNT Premiere video service was launched. Today, the Gazprom-Media Entertainment TV sub-holding manages television channels, which are, in effect, the locomotives of Gazprom-Media’s business. Their impact on the operational and financial performance of the Holding is very great. Moreover, the sub-holding is carrying out a number of large investment projects. Thus, the Holding presently needs to manage assets not only at the level of the Board of Directors, but also at the operational level. For Gazprom-Media, as the leader of entertainment and sports television, the decision to increase participation in the management of these key assets is a logical and consistent step,” said Dmitry Chernyshenko, CEO of Gazprom-Media Holding.

Gazprom-Media Entertainment TV sub-holding will continue to manage entertainment channels, as well as the sports and technology units of the media Holding, Gazprom-Media Match and Gazprom-Media Technologies.

Managing directors of Gazprom-Media Entertainment TV

Operational management will also be carried out by a team of managing directors of Gazprom-Media Entertainment TV. Their functions are divided by areas. Vladimir Chopov will be responsible for business management, including channel broadcasts, development of the regional network, monetization of advertising equipment, and the implementation of investment projects. Sergey Shishkin will manage financial and legal matters. Roman Petrenko will be responsible for the sub-holding’s program strategy, assessing the feasibility of launching new television products and monitoring their effectiveness. He will also take over as the head of TNT channel.

I am pleased to welcome Roman Petrenko into our team. He is stepping up to lead our flagship channel, TNT. I am confident that his expertise in creating and promoting television products in various markets, and his invaluable experience as a successful media manager will allow the TV channel to remain a leader in the commercially attractive television audience aged 14-44,” said Dmitry Chernyshenko, CEO of Gazprom-Media Holding.

Roman Petrenko will also continue to oversee Gazprom-Media’s international development, which envisions the sale of the sub-holding’s television formats abroad.

Investment projects

In 2017, the Holding launched a number of investment projects related to the development of new business areas. Among such projects are the creation of a new entertainment channel Super, development of premium content for the Internet and its distribution (launch of the TNT Premier video service), creation of premium content for international markets, and investment in the development of digital assets.

Ensuring a targeted return on these investments is one of the essential prerequisites for strengthening operational management. The Holding controls projects looking five years ahead in terms of their qualitative and quantitative indicators, said Dmitry Chernyshenko, CEO of Gazprom-Media Holding.
