A round table of Russian and Chinese filmmakers on development of cooperation in the field of cinema and joint film production was held at the State Administration of China for Film Affairs. The Russian delegation was led by Andrey Malyshev, Deputy Minister of Culture of the Russian Federation, and the Chinese delegation was headed by Mao Yu, Deputy Head of the State Administration of China for Film Affairs.


During the meeting held in Beijing, Vadim Vereshchagin, CEO of the Central Partnership film company (part of Gazprom-Media Holding), told Chinese colleagues about three promising areas of cooperation: joint production of films, TV series, animation, and TV shows, theatrical distribution, and creation of remakes of Russian films.

«I am convinced that exploring and implementing [these] three opportunities for cooperation will allow us to create content that will be in demand worldwide and bring our countries, which are already strategic partners, even closer together».

Representatives of several other Russian film companies also participated in the event, presenting their cooperation initiatives.


Vadim Vereshchagin placed special emphasis on Gazprom-Media Holding’s capabilities in producing and distributing content across all media spheres and presented the projects of Central Partnership and YARKO animation studio to the attendees. Using the example of successful cooperation with Turkish, French, and Mongolian film companies, he also spoke about the progress of producing remakes of Russian films.


Additionally, during the presentation, it was announced that The Wizard of the Emerald City. The Yellow Brick Road will premiere in China in 2025 with the support of China Film Group Corporation.


Deputy Head of the State Administration for Film Affairs of China, Mao Yu, stated that proposals made by the Russians would be carefully studied and that the dialogue between filmmakers from the two countries was going to bring results in the very near future.

The dialogue of filmmakers from Russia and China took place as part of the visit of the Russian delegation to China, led by the Minister of Culture of the Russian Federation, Olga Lyubimova. The meeting was attended by representatives of Russian and Chinese relevant government bodies and film companies.
