The screening of these films during the International Arctic Forum plays an important role, helping to better understand the character of the region and its residents, and shedding light on the heroism of those who dedicated their lives to the Arctic in various historical eras. The main goal of these events is to draw attention to the Russian Arctic, its historical heritage, and its significance for the country’s development».

The plot of the film follows the voyage of the first Soviet nuclear submarine, Leninsky Komsomol. It proceeded under the ice packs of the Arctic Ocean and for the first time in the world history surfaced in close proximity to the pole. This operation was intended to demonstrate the power of the Soviet Navy and is comparable in complexity to the first space flights. The main characters in the film were played by Andrey Merzlikin, Evgeny Mironov, and Elena Sever.

The VI International Arctic Forum takes place on March 26–27 in Murmansk under the motto “The North is for living!” It is a key platform for discussing current matters of socio-economic development of Arctic territories and devising multi-level multilateral mechanisms to jointly unlock and effectively develop the powerful resource potential of the Arctic region. The business program of the forum includes about 20 sessions.
