The premiere of the film Gruppa krovi took place in China cover

The presentation of Gruppa krovi [Blood Type] was held at the flagship cinema China Film International Cinema. The organizers were the Chinese distributors China Film Group and Huaxia Film Distribution.

The military drama was presented in Beijing by the CEO of Gazprom-Media Holding, Aleksandr Zharov.

The event was timed to coincide with the celebration of the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War and the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People’s War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression, as well as the upcoming wide release of the film Gruppa krovi in China, which will begin on September 5.

The film, created by the film company Triiks Media with the support of Gazprom-Media Holding, the Cinema Fund, the Russian Military Historical Society, and the Movement of the First, is dedicated to the heroism of orphaned children during the Great Patriotic War. The film tells about the events that took place during the occupation of the Leningrad region by Nazi invaders, where children’s donor concentration camps were located. At the center of the plot is the story of one such camp located in the village of Vyritsa in Gatchina district.

«As you know, this year is significant for the Russian and Chinese peoples because 80 years ago our countries not only made a decisive contribution to the victory in World War II, but also emerged victorious in national wars. The Soviet Union defeated the fascist German aggressor in the Great Patriotic War. China defended its freedom and independence in the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression. The losses suffered by our peoples must never be forgotten. The film Gruppa krovi, which I have the honor to present to you today, is precisely about this, about preventing the oblivion of history and the victims of war crimes. Our task was to convey to every viewer a universal message: three ‘no’s’. ‘No’ to the repetition of the events of those times, ‘no’ to the oblivion of the feats of our ancestors, and ‘no’ to the distortion and falsification of historical truth».

The presentation of the film was also attended by Deputy CEO of Gazprom-Media Holding Boris Khanchalyan, Deputy Director of China Film Export & Import, Director of China Film Coproduction Corporation Yang Jian, Manager of the Beijing branch for the distribution of imported films of the China Film Corporation Wang Jia, and Deputy Head of the Distribution Department of Huaxia Film Distribution Du Wei.

«I think today’s premiere is a good start. I very much hope that we will continue this good tradition and am confident that the film Gruppa krovi will have great box office success in China».

Simultaneously with the release of Gruppa krovi in China, the Chinese military drama The Nanjing Photographer will be released in Russian cinemas on September 11. It is one of the highest-grossing projects of 2025 in China. The film was created by leading Chinese studios China Film Group Corporation (CFGC), Super Lion Culture Communication, and Yuuya Media. The unprecedentedly rapid release of the film on the Russian market, just a month after its premiere in China, is of particular significance. For comparison this interval is normally six months or more.

The film, which tells of the crimes of Japanese invaders during the Nanjing Massacre of 1937, demonstrates outstanding box office results: after its release on July 25, the film held the lead in the national box office for three weekends and has collected over $381 million in China to date (according to Variety).

The parallel release of two films dedicated to World War II events – the Russian Gruppa krovi and the Chinese The Nanjing Photographer – has become an example of cultural cooperation between Russia and China.

Gazprom-Media Holding and the film company Central Partnership (part of Gazprom-Media Holding) have traditionally paid great attention to expanding international film exchange. One example of such cooperation was the release of the family fantasy blockbuster The Wizard of the Emerald City in Chinese cinemas. The Yellow Brick Road. The film, one of the highest-grossing Russian films, has been shown in Chinese cinemas since August 29. The project was created with the participation of Central Partnership, Kinoslovo, CGF, and Nikita Mikhalkov’s TRITE Studio with the support of the Cinema Fund.
