December was a month of victories for the adult animation TV channel, with several of its projects topping the best-of lists of major Russian media outlets.
First, Snob magazine announced the results of its Made in Russia 2020 awards. Posledniye Dni Tresha (Last Days of Trash) came out on top in the Series category as chosen by readers. This is Russia’s first ecological animation blockbuster, complimented by an interactive game platform on 2x2’s website. The show’s highly relevant subject matter, exciting plot, and the opportunity for viewers to experience its world online helped it surpass strong competition such as Vnutri Lapenko-2 (Inside Lapenko), Chiki and Epidemiya (To the Lake).
Second, GQ listed the year’s 11 best podcasts, which included Escape, an original 2x2 podcast about how games, cartoons, films and TV series help people overcome personal problems and cope with difficult situations, including alcoholism, depression, violence and the death of loved ones. Escape has featured eight guests since August and has made it into the top podcast selection on Yandex.Music several times with over 30,000 listens, even though no money at all was spent on promoting it.
