The film Not Listed entered the competition program of the SCO Film Festival in China preview

The SCO Film Festival focuses on the achievements of the cinema of the member countries of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. A whole series of events is planned in China, including film screenings, forums on cooperation issues, a film technology exhibition, a film market, and more. Awards for the winners of the festival’s competition program will be presented in 10 categories, including Best Film and Best Director. The first SCO Film Festival also took place in China, in the city of Qingdao (Shandong Province, Eastern China), back in 2018.

The military drama Not Listed entered the competition program of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Film Festival, which will be held from July 3 to 7 in the Chinese city of Chongqing.

China is hosting the film festival as the chair country of the SCO in 2024-2025. The main organizers are the State Film Administration of China and the People’s Government of Chongqing.

“I am glad that the Not Listed project will be part of the competition program of the SCO Film Festival in Chongqing. This is a great opportunity to strengthen cultural partnership and continue dialogue between the member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. It is symbolic that a film about human heroism will be shown in China, a country that has made a huge contribution to our common Victory. Russia and China are not only connected by a common past, but also by strong cooperation today, and most importantly, by a shared responsibility for future generations. When we create our films, it is important for us that they reflect our common cultural code – historical memory, traditions, values – everything that makes us stronger and brings us closer to each other. SCO countries are historically united by similar moral guidelines: respect for family, love for the motherland, mutual assistance, and the desire for joint development. That is why cultural projects are an important step towards strengthening mutual understanding and trust within this large partnership framework.”

Aleksandr Zharov CEO of Gazprom-Media Holding and general producer of the film

The film Not Listed, based on the novella by Boris Vasilyev, was created by Gazprom-Media Holding, NTV channel, 1-2-3 Production, TEMP, and TROMEDIA film companies, as well as the Moscow Oleg Tabakov Theater, with the support of the Cinema Fund and the Government of Moscow. The filming took place in Belarus and at the Moskino cinema park.

ROSKINO, with the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, is organizing the participation of five Russian films

in the festival program and will also present a catalog of Russian projects. Not Listed will be presented to the international audience by director Sergey Korotaev and cinematographer Igor Grinyakin.

“The presentation of Russian films within the framework of the film festival and the film market allows for a wide and comprehensive presentation of Russian cinema to the audience, the festival community, and film industry professionals of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization countries in film studios and film organizations. I am confident that the SCO Film Festival will be an effective platform for dialogue among filmmakers. The inclusion of two significant military dramas of recent years, Not Listed and Air, in the competition program of the festival emphasizes the undeniable significance of the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory.”

Elza Antonova General Director of ROSKINO

The film Air (2023, directed by Aleksei German Jr.) also entered the competition program of the festival. Three more films – the dramedy The Three of Us (2024, directed by Alexandra Sarana), the comedy Slomya golovu (2023, directed by Evgeniy Grigorev), and the thriller The Riot (2022, directed by Evgeniy Grigorev) – will be presented in the non-competition program. Film screenings will take place in several city cinemas.

In addition to Russia, film agencies and studios from China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Mongolia, Iran, Belarus, and Pakistan will participate in the industrial event. The film market is focused on developing the cooperation potential in the film industry of the SCO countries.
