JSC Gazprom media, the leading diversified media holding in Russia and Eastern Europe, is goind to shoot the premiere and the most popular productions of the Mariinsky Theater in ultra-high resolution 4K.

The materials of shooting will be used for showing in theaters in Russia and other countries, as well as for the production and broadcasting in different media environment. Gazprom media will receive exclusive rights to distribute the created content.

The first shot in the 4K Ultra HD format was held at the opera premiere of Rodion Shchedrin "A Christmas Tale", which the famous composer created especially for the Mariinsky Theatre.

Match TV equipment specially conversed to 4K-format mobile television station (PTS) and eight cameras was used for the shooting. Previously, this equipment was used for the organization of broadcasting of opening and closing ceremonies of the Olympic Games. The experienced professionals, who previously provided the shooting of the XV International Tchaikovsky Competition and other activities in the area of culture, were attracted for shooting.

The Mariinsky Theater and Gazprom media signed a cooperation agreement aimed at increasing the theater audience in Russia and abroad. The agreement provides shooting productions and the organization of live broadcasts in cinemas and online-broadcasts, the creation of the content based on the library of Mariinsky Theatre, the distribution of various types of rights in the international markets. The channel Match TV, the film company Central Partnership, video hosting Rutube and radio Children's Radio will be involved in the realization of cooperation program.

For the realization of the first phase of cooperation Russia's largest video service Rutube became a technological partner of the Mariinsky Theater, providing the Internet broadcast and technical support to its Internet site.
