This is the best result in the history of domestic film distribution in the region, noted Vadim Vereshchagin, CEO of the film company Central Partnership. The adaptation of Alexander Volkov’s fairy tale gained most popularity in Brazil, Mexico, and Peru. 

In Russia, the story of Ellie and Totoshka brought in over 3.3 billion rubles and became the third highest-grossing project in the history of modern domestic film distribution. 

In July filming began for the second part of the film, The Wizard of the Emerald City. The Great and Terrible. Work on the sequel is taking place in Moscow, Moscow Region, and Kazakhstan and will be completed by the end of August. The premiere is scheduled for January 1, 2027.

The producers of the second part are Aleksandr Zharov, Vadim Vereshchagin, Pyotr Anurov, Aleksandr Gorokhov, and Grigoriy Stoyalov. The film is being produced by Central Partnership (part of Gazprom-Media Holding), Kinoslovo, and CGF, with the support of the Cinema Fund.
