The academy is intended to be a platform for representatives of the film industry from different countries to exchange experiences in creating and promoting quality films. The initiative has received the support of President of Russia Vladimir Putin.
The ceremony was attended by Minister of Culture Olga Lyubimova, CEO of Gazprom-Media Holding Alexander Zharov, and guests from China director Ding Sheng and film producer Zhang Di. Previously, Gazprom-Media Holding and its Chinese colleagues announced Allies, a joint military film project.
Nikita Mikhalkov inspired the idea of creating the award. It will include 12 categories. The presentation was attended by guests from more than 20 countries, including Belarus, China, Cuba, India, Iran, Kazakhstan, Serbia, the United Arab Emirates, Venezuela, and Vietnam.
Both the member countries of the academy and any other states expressing a desire to join and share its values will be able to participate in the award competition.
Gazprom-Media Holding supports and shares the principles laid down by the founders of the academy. It will promote cooperation based on equality, mutual respect, and careful regard for the cultural traditions and national values of its member countries. Extensive joint work will aid in the qualitative development of the film industry.
