Yandex search engine made a list of the most popular queries its users made in 2018. Six TV series from the channels TNT and Super were included in the Top 10 in the “TV Series” category, and seven projects from the channels TNT and Friday! were among the Top 10 “TV Shows”. Other popular searches included the FIFA 2018 World Cup and the MMA fight between Khabib Nurmagomedov and Conor McGregor, both of which were broadcast on Match TV.
Domashny Arest (House Arrest) made it into the Top 3 among TV series. Created by famous Russian comedian Semyon Slepakov, the project went on air on TNT-PREMIER’s OTT-platform on August 16. The series Politseysky s Rublyovki (Policeman from Rublyovka) was also among the Top 10. Its new season is available on TNT-PREMIER. The TNT series Olga is represented in the rating for the third consecutive year - its new season took off with a TV viewership share of 20.3% among TV viewers aged 14-44. And it is the second time that TNT’s Ostrov (The Island) made it into the Top 10 of the most searched TV shows. Other popular series include Grand, which opened the first television series of the new channel Super.
TNT and Friday! channel projects account for seven out of the top 10 most popular television shows. The rating is led by TNT’s reality show Zamuzh za Buzovu (Marrying Buzova), which went on air in August and was watched by 18% of Russian television viewers aged 14 to 44. The second place also went to a TNT show, The Bachelor. Friday! channel’s reality show Patsanky (Tomboys) rounds off the top three. The third season of the experimental project went on air in August and got a 7.8% average viewership share among an audience aged 14 to 44. Other TNT shows represented in the Top 10 include Bitva Ekstrasensov (Psychic Challenge), talent shows Tantsy (Dances) and Pesny (Songs), and the project Ekstrasensy. Bitva Silneyshih (Psychic Challenge. Battle of the Strongest).
The Top 5 of the most popular events in search queries included the FIFA 2018 World Cup, as well as Khabib Nurmagomedov’s fight with Conor McGregor. Match TV showed both sporting events live. The television viewership of the Nurmagomedov-McGregor fight was 60.4% among a male audience aged 14-59.
