NTV is launching an innovative 5G studio today. The studio will show the participants of Russia’s main business event of the year - the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) - and NTV viewers the possibilities that the TV channel has with a 5G connection. Online production of news programs that NTV creates as part of its coverage of SPIEF-2021 will also be part of the offering.
MegaFon was a partner in creating the 5G studio. Two base stations, which operate on a millimetre range, will provide the 5G signal. In tests done on a similar range, MegaFon demonstrated speeds up to 4.1 Gbps, with a 5G signal delay of 8ms. This is especially important during video conferencing, mobile broadcasts and the transfer of content in higher resolution, such as 4K.
