PREMIER video service will launch a new series called Mir! Druzhba! Zhvachka! (Peace! Friendship! Chewing Gum!) on April 23. Made by Good Story Media (part of Gazprom-Media Holding), Mir! Druzhba! Zhvachka! is a drama series set in Russia’s turbulent 1990s. PREMIER subscribers will get free access to the series, while in May the series will be shown on TNT channel.
The series was created by Good Story Media’s studio, which previously worked on such television hits as the series Fizruk (Gym Teacher), Olga, Realnye Patsany (Real Guys), Adaptatsiya (Adaptation), and others.
The story shown in Mir! Druzhba! Zvachka! takes place in 1993. The main character, San’ka Ryabin, is 14 years old. He is an ordinary teenager - looking for adventures, trying to shield himself from neighbourhood bullies, and avoiding musical school. He doesn’t know how to speak to girls and which adults to look up to as role models. Once, while running away from bullies, San’ka steals the car of a local crime boss and, in that one instant, everything in his life changes.
According to the series’ creators, Mir! Druzhba! Zhvachka! is both a tale about growing up and friendship, but also a tale about the changes that took place in the country after the fall of the Soviet Union.
