The St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) is taking place from 2-5 June in Russia’s northern capital. Match TV hosted a round table on June 3, from 9:00 to 10:15, to discuss the “Role of sports in shaping future youth policy”.

Tina Kandelaki, chief producer of Match TV, moderated the round table. Speakers included Russian national team rugby player Vasily Artemyev, Russia’s Minister of Sport Oleg Matytsin, vice-president of the Russian Football Union Denis Solovyov, president of the Russian Triathlon Federation and head of the Liga Geroyev project Kseniya Shoygu, URALCHEM CEO Dmitry Mazepin, Aide to the President of the Russian Federation Igor Levitin, Chairman of the State Duma Committee on physical culture, sports, tourism and youth affairs Boris Paikin, president of the International Boxing Association (AIBA) Umar Kremlev and Hungary’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Peter Szijjarto. 

The discussion at Match TV’s round table touched on the importance of sport as a tool for personal development, the social responsibility of sports organisations, accessible sports environments, popularisation of sport, sports marketing and other topics.
