June 5 is a professional holiday for environmentalists - World Environment Day. An environmental radio marathon was held in the lead-up to the holiday, bringing together the listeners of Radio Zenit, Avtoradio-Astrakhan and several other radio stations from different Russian regions in real time.

Recycling, reducing the carbon footprint, reforestation - the larges-scale radio marathon dedicated to the environmental contest “Mir, v kotorom ya hochu zhit” (The world I want to live in) connected the studios of four radio stations on June 3. The contest participants explained how their projects can help solve environmental problems on live air of St. Petersburg’s Radio Zenit, with Avtoradio-Astrakhan, Radio Sputnik (Salavat) and Nord FM (Yugorsk) joining the broadcast.

The goal of the project was to draw the young generation’s attention to major problems in society, in particular, those regarding the environment and the measures to take care of it.
