Holding Gazprom media and the site People's Daily Online signed the agreement on strategic cooperation

Beijing, China - JSC Gazprom media, the leading diversified media holding in Russia and Eastern Europe, and the company People's Daily Online, which manages the information portal of the largest newspaper in China People's Daily, with the participation of the Ministry of Communications and Mass Media of the Russian Federation signed an agreement on strategic cooperation.

Board chairman of JSC Gazprom media Dmitry Chernyshenko, president of the site People's Daily Online Niu Yibin, together with the Deputy Minister of Communications and Mass Media of the Russian Federation Alexei Volin and the Secretary General of the newspaper People's Daily Wang Ibyao signed a document on cooperation.

The aim of the agreement is to consolidate the efforts of both sides to strengthen business and cultural relations between Russia and China.

"The agreement was signed at the beginning of the Year of Russian and Chinese media, which is supported by the Heads of States of the two countries, - commented Alexei Volin, Deputy Minister of Communications and Mass Media of the Russian Federation, who attended the signing of the agreement. - The agreement will strengthen information exchange in the area of mass media between the two countries. Total cooperation in the media sphere of Russia and China will be developed in 10 directions in the coming two years. "

"With colleagues from China, we are considering various forms of cooperation. Among the priorities we see the rapid exchange of relevant news, mutual support in the organization and functioning of the news studios in both countries, exchange of documentary and archive content as well as cooperative activity in the production and distribution of film, television and Internet content,"- said General Director of JSC Gazprom media Dmitry Chernyshenko.

"Cooperation with the largest Russian media holding complies with the principles of the digital Silk Road, a concept which was actively discussed at the second international Internet conference in December 2015 in China - said Niu Yibin, president of People's Daily Online. - Its establishment will help to create a common online cyberspace and the development of all types of media. According to this position we are interested in considering various options for cooperation with Gazprom media, especially the exchange of information content which describes the history, culture and modern life of Russia and China. "

Site People's Daily Online was opened in 1997, it is the largest online platform for the exchange of information, which was created by one of the 10 largest newspapers in the world, People's Daily and which is mostly focused on the news.
