Sofya Mitrofanova (née Kvashilava) appointed CEO of PREMIER video service

Gazprom-Media Holding, the leading diversified media holding in Russia and Eastern Europe, is announcing the appointment of Sofya Mitrofanova (née Kvashilava) as CEO of the PREMIER video service. The appointment takes effect on August 9. Ivan Grodetsky, who previously held this position, decided to leave the company.

As the CEO of PREMIER, Sofya Mitrofanova will be responsible for the video service’s strategic development and operational management. Her mission will be to expand the PREMIER’s audience base and attract new subscribers. She will also oversee the continued modernisation of the service’s IT infrastructure, which is designed to improve user experience. A lineup of new, original projects will also be formed under her leadership. 

Sofya Mitrofanova has worked in the media industry for more than 15 years. Before joining the Gazprom-Media Holding team in 2020, she worked as the chief producer at Okko Entertainment, content director at Rambler Group, content director at ivi.ru online cinema, digital products sales director at The Walt Disney Company CIS. She has also worked for Viasat World, headed the Russian office of the Polish media company ITI Group and launched the first Polish-language movie channel Woina I Pokoj. 

Sofia Mitrofanova’s biography

●    She has worked at Gazprom-Media Holding since September 2020 and holds the position of communications director. 

●    From 2018 to 2020, she was the content director at Rambler Group and chief producer at Okko Entertainment of the Okko multimedia platform.

●    From 2016 to 2018, she held the position of content director at ivi.ru online cinema. 

●    From 2012 to 2016, she worked as a sales director at The Walt Disney Company CIS where she was responsible for VOD deals in Russia and the former Soviet Union territories.

●    From 2006 to 2011, she ran the Russian office of the Polish media company ITI Group and launched the first Polish-language movie channel Woina I Pokoj. Under Sofya’s leadership, the channel received the prestigious Hot Bird Award as the best film channel. 

●    In 2002, she graduated from the Moscow State University with a specialisation in jurisprudence. She has four years of experience working in a legal practice.
