KIT Film Studio’s documentary film wins a prize at the International Festival of Sports Film
The awards ceremony for the winners of the 15th International Festival of Sports Films Krasnogorsky took place in Moscow on April 17. The film Ya Lublu Tebya, Sochi (I Love You, Sochi), produced by KIT Film Studio (part of Gazprom-Media Holding) for Match TV channel, received the “Olympic Legacy” award.
Filming of this documentary project began in 2016. The film shows how the city and the lives of its residents changed after July 4, 2007 when Russia won the right to host the Winter Olympic Games in Sochi in 2014. The story line is built around the challenging transformation of Sochi from an abandoned resort town to a city of the future, a year-round center of sport and tourism.
“When we were planning the Olympic Games, we thought not only about creating a vibrant sports celebration, but also about the large-scale heritage that would be left for the country and the city. This film is especially important for us because it talks about the changes in the lives of specific people and the powerful momentum for development that the Olympics brought,” said Dmitry Chernyshenko, CEO of Gazprom-Media Holding and former head of the Sochi 2014 Olympic Games Organizing Committee.
Saida Medvedeva, famous documentary filmmaker and winner of multiple TEFI awards, served as the producer of the documentary film along with Rafael Minasbekyan, general manager of KIT Group of Companies. Dmitry Zinchenkov directed the film. He is the author of multiple documentary works, which aired on federal Russian TV channels.
