Not Listed will open the Russian Film Festival in Iran cover

The film conveys values common to both countries: patriotism, courage, true friendship, and sincere love.

From June 9 to 13, the Russian Film Festival, organized by ROSKINO with the support of the Russian Ministry of Culture, is taking place in Iran. A special place in the festival program is occupied by the military drama Not Listed, based on the novella of the same name by Boris Vasilyev.

Gazprom-Media Holding pays great attention to strengthening cultural and historical heritage, not only in Russia, but also worldwide, including by conveying unique stories and deep meanings. The film Not Listed has already been watched by more than 1.5 million viewers in Russian cinemas. Now the film can be seen in two Iranian cities – in the Book Garden unique cultural space in Tehran, and in the Isfahan City Center complex in Isfahan.

The grand opening ceremony of the Festival will take place on June 11 in Tehran, and Not Listed will be the opening film. After the film screening, there will be a creative meeting between the audience and the film’s director, Sergey Korotaev.

«I am very glad that Russian Film Festivals continue to cover new points on the world map. After the screening of the military drama Gruppa krovi [Blood Type] in Uzbekistan, our film Not Listed will be seen by audiences in Iran. Despite the differences in our cultures, we share common values: patriotism, courage, true friendship, and sincere love. These are the meanings embedded in our film, so I am confident that the people of Iran will appreciate this film».

Aleksandr Zharov CEO of Gazprom-Media Holding

«The drama Not Listed will be included in the program of the Russian Film Festival abroad for the first time. This is an outstanding film that audiences of all ages should see as an example of true courage, love for the Motherland, and selflessness. In Iran, where in recent years there has been a trend to learn more about the events of World War II, the story of the defense of the Brest Fortress, one of the first to be attacked by Nazi invaders, will allow viewers to discover the details of a heroic battle, and the creative meeting with director Sergey Korotaev will provide an opportunity to ask questions about how the feat of the defenders was brought to the screen».

Elsa Antonova General Director of ROSKINO

«For 1-2-3 Production, it is a great honor to open the Russian Film Festival in Iran with such an important film as Not Listed. This film is not just a military drama; it is a story of courage, duty, and humanity, which I am sure will resonate with audiences in different countries. Iran is a country with a rich culture and deep cinematic traditions, and it is valuable for us that it is here that audiences will see our film outside of Russia. I thank ROSKINO and the Ministry of Culture for the opportunity to present Russian cinema in such a unique format and hope that the festival will be another step towards strengthening the cultural dialogue between our countries».

Artem Mikhalkov General Producer of 1-2-3 Production (part of GPM KIT within Gazprom-Media Holding)

«The exchange of knowledge between Russia and Iran, born at such a distance, is important and interesting. The film screening is needed both from the perspective of educating the youth and from the perspective of fighting for our history and heritage. It can be said that a feat was also accomplished on the ‘front’ of creating the film. Thanks to the support of Gazprom-Media Holding, a colossal amount of work was done in a very short time. We felt support at all stages, from the moment the idea of how the film should look was conceived, to the premiere. This story of the film’s creation could even become the plot for a separate book».

Sergey Korotaev Director

The filming of Not Listed took place in Belarus and at the Moskino cinema park. The film was created by Gazprom-Media Holding, the NTV channel, film companies 1-2-3 Production, TEMP, and TROMEDIA, as well as the Oleg Tabakov Theater in Moscow, with the support of the State Film Fund and the Moscow Government.
