The world’s top VOD platforms and distributors have expressed an interest in NTV projects following MIPCOM 2021, an annual trade show for entertainment content which wrapped up in Cannes, France. A major Indonesian media company got interested in the channel’s non-scripted formats. There were also productive negotiations made about the Asian and African markets, in particular, with companies from South Korea and Vietnam.

International buyers were especially interested in the documentary film Anna about opera diva Anna Netrebko, the drama series Nemtsy (The Germans), the historical detective series Bezsonoff and the action series Master.

This year MIPCOM was held as a combination of offline and online events. As always, it brought together the largest players in the media industry. NTV channel took part in the online program and presented a virtual stand with new, exciting projects, including the dramas Master and Nemtsy, and the next installments of popular TV series, including the second season of the thriller Po tu Storonu Smerty (On the Other Side of Death), the third season of the detective series Dinosavr (Dinosaur), the fourth season of the action-packed melodrama Skoraya Pomosh (Ambulance), and the sixth season of the series Pyos (Dog). NTV also presented its non-scripted formats, the hugely popular talk show Sekret na Million (A Secret Worth a Million) and the musical project Superstar! Vozvrashenie (Superstar! The Comeback).

Earlier at MIPCOM, NTV announced a package deal with Looke, one of the fastest growing streaming services in Latin America, which bought the rights to four NTV series from the Brazilian distributor Encripta. The service’s content library now includes the historic series Dekabristka (The Sacrificing), the detective series with comedy elements Operetta Kapitana Krutova (Captain Krutov’s Operetta), the action-packed series Pyat Minut Tishiny (Five Minutes of Silence), and the detective series Lichnost ne Ustanovlena (Identity Not Confirmed). These projects will be available to watch via the SVOD (Subscription Video on Demand) and TVOD (Transactional Video on Demand) models with Portuguese and Spanish subtitles.

NTV also managed to strengthen its presence on the European market thanks to Ampersand Fiction, a French distributor of serial content. Three of the channel’s projects were included in a deal made between the two companies last year: the comedy detective series Femida Vidit (Femida Sees), and the dramas Dusheguby (Tyrants) and Poteryannye (The Lost). Last week it was announced that the global aviation giant, Air France, has acquired the Femida Vidit series, the Polish VOD platform TVP VOD bought Dusheguby, while the large Latvian media holding SIA Helio Media bought all three NTV series.

In 2022, the Japanese AXN Mystery channel will air a new block of episodes of the historical detective series Bezsonoff. The series will also be available to subscribers of five online services as part of the AXN Mystery on demand SVOD-service.
