TEFI is a national television award for the highest achievements in television arts. The award was established by the Russian Academy of Television foundation in 1994.
The competition is open to producers of television programs (TV and film companies, studios, production centers and associations), as well as TV channels producing their own programs. The winners in each nomination are determined by secret ballot. The jury consists of members of the Russian Television Academy.
