Rubezh among the leaders in popular vote

The film Rubezh (The Frontier), which is produced by KIT Film Studio and Central Partnership (both part of Gazprom-Media Holding), was among the top three leaders, according to the results of the people’s online vote on the TASS website, and ultimately finished in second place. The whole country will be able to see the leaders of the vote during the nationwide event “Night of Cinema” on August 25.

The Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, together with the Film Fund, have been organizing the “Night of Cinema” since 2016. Online voting for popular films, which will be shown across Russia, started in early July and finished on August 2. The film Rubezh by director Dmitry Tyurin took the lead from the very first days of the vote and held on to first place for all four weeks, losing the lead only in the last hours of voting. In terms of the number of votes, the historical action drama Rubezh bypassed such high-profile box office hits as Dvizhenie Vverh (Going Vertical), Trener (The Coach), Lyod (Ice), Posledniy Bogatyr (The Last Bogatyr), Salyut 7 and others.

The epic blockbuster Legenda o Kolovrate (The Legend of Kolovrat), which was created by KIT Film Studio and Central Partnership, was also among the 26 films that received the highest praise from Russians.

“We are very happy that people voted so highly for our films. The opinion of the viewer is what cinema is created for. Rubezh is especially dear and important to us because it is meant as a message of love to our ancestors, our grandfathers and grandmothers. It is already very honourable to be among such a worthy company of candidates at the vote, and to take second place - it is doubly enjoyable!” said Rafael Minasbekyan, film producer and general manager of Gazprom-Media Film and Television group of companies.

“It is remarkable that such a large number of people voted specifically for the film Rubezh. It is a very important film for the current generation about a difficult page in our history, that talks to the young people in a language that is understandable to them. We are very happy that the film found a spot in the audiences’ hearts. It’s pleasant and honourable that two pictures of our own production, both released in 2017, were on the list among the best,” said Pavel Stepanov, film producer and general manager of Central Partnership.

The film Rubezh was released in cinemas on February 22, 2018. The television premiere of the film will take place on NTV channel. The main roles in the film were performed by Pavel Priluchnyi, Kristina Brodskaya, Alexander Korshunov, Sergei Chirkov, Igor Sklyar, Kirill Kyaro, Elena Lyadova and others. In the storyline, a young cynical businessman Mikhail (Pavel Priluchniy) unexpectedly meets his love, but the accidental acquaintance with the young woman Liza (Kristina Brodskaya) causes time and spacial anomalies. Transported from the present, Mikhail finds himself in the past, in the days of the breakthrough of the Leningrad Blockade. He needs to become a player in the game with time in order to save his love and permanently return to reality.
