TNT series make up 9 of 10 most popular TV series of the season 

Columnist Arina Borodina spoke about the main takeaways from the past television season on her show Programmnoe Obespechenie on Ekho Moskvy ahead of the start of the new TV season. Speaking about the period between 31 August 2020 and 27 June 2021, Borodina focused on TV series that were popular among audiences 18+, particularly those over the age of 50 and young audiences in the “14-44” age group. As it turned out, the choices of these two different audiences did not coincide in any way. The older audience members mostly watched melodramas and programs that aired on Channel One and Russia 1, while the younger viewers opted for comedies and dramas that aired on TNT channel.

TNT emerged as the absolute leader of the television season among an audience aged 14-44. The channel’s projects accounted for nine of the 10 most-viewed TV series. 

The Top 10 looks as follows. In first place there is the fourth season of Olga with Yana Troyanova in the lead role. Next are the comedies Otpusk (Vacation) with Pavel Maikov and Valya Karnaval - one in five people in Russia watched the series premiere*, Ivanko with Valya Mazunina and Angelina Mirimskaya, the second season of the comedy series Zhuki (Bugs), Devushki s Makarovym (Makarov’s Girls), Gusar (Hussar) with Garik Kharlamov, Militsioner s Rublyovki (The Militiaman from Rublyovka) - a prequel to the popular Politseysky s Rublyovki (The Policeman from Rublyovka), Idealnaya Semya (The Ideal Family) with Pavel Derevyanko, and Pereval Dyatlova (Dead Mountain: The Dyatlov Pass Incident) with Pyotr Fedorov.

TNT channel also became the leader among cities with a population of 100,000+ in the weekday 20:30-21:00 slot during its broadcasts of Olga, according to data from the early 2020-21 TV season. The channel’s share was 19.3% at the time, followed by STS channel which had a share of 9.9% (14-44 audience)**.
