One of the world’s largest distributors of television content, Global Agency, acquired the rights to NTV’s historical series, A.L.Z.H.I.R.
The multi-episode drama, based on real events of 1938-1945, tells about the tragic fate of the wives of homeland traitors and their lives in one of the harshest Stalinist women’s camps, Akmolinsky (Akmol) Camp.
The main roles in the series were performed by Darya Ekamasova, winner of the cinematographic Nika award and the special prize of the Moscow International Film Festival, honoured artist of Russia Ekaterina Guseva and Kirill Pletnyov, winner of the Kinotavr film festival and Zolotoy Oryol awards.
Alexander Kasatkin directed the series.
The plot of the series focuses on two heroines - the wife of an aircraft designer Olga Pavlova (Darya Ekamasova), who is arrested as a member of the traitor’s family, and Sofia Ter-Ashaturova (Ekaterina Guseva), an outstanding opera singer who is detained based on denunciation. Together they have to fight not only with the hardships of prison life, but also with the intrigues inside the women’s colony.
